About Us

Like You Never Left Home

Jennifer W. Cole, Licensed Administrator, Licensed/Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and Certified Activity Director

As a child, I frequently visited a local nursing home with my Grandmother, Edna, as she visited and cared for her mother. I became comfortable talking to and interacting with residents, pushing their w/c’s to activities, dining and passing out snacks. From a young age, my Grandmother instilled in me the importance of respect, patience and genuine kindness when interacting with seniors. I visited so often I knew them by name. I felt like a celebrity when I was there; the residents were always thrilled to see kids and I was happy to be there. My Grandmother Edna spent hours at the nursing home every evening with her mother for as long as she was there. Her sister was there every morning. They were there to make sure their mother’s needs were met and that she was cared for properly; for their own peace of mind, because there was doubt. As an adult, my path would come full circle. I decided to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy.

Upon graduation, I chose to enter the field of geriatrics in a skilled nursing facility (long term care/nursing home). As a therapist, I assist residents who have been ill, injured or weak to improve their independence in daily living skills. I specialize (and provide skilled instruction), in a variety of areas including bathing/dressing, cooking, home management, self feeding, w/c mobility, therapeutic exercise and more. I also earned certification as an Activity Director and I enjoy developing group and individual activities to brighten our resident’s days. I couldn’t love my profession more. I always leave my job with a sense of accomplishment and a happy heart.

After years of my husband installing (fire protection) sprinkler systems for Family Care Homes and my 24 years of direct, hands on, geriatric patient care, I decided to open a Family Care Home. My passion for the elderly fuels my drive to provide premier resident care on a personal level, leaving families free from worry, knowing their loved one is thriving. It is only fitting that our home be named for my Grandmother. The most loving, selfless caregiver I have ever known. “Edna’s Place…like you never left home”. Let us provide the same peace of mind for you. Call us for a tour and more information.
